Dr Steven Tucker is an Internist and Medical Oncologist with clinical expertise in evaluation and treatment cancer at all stages including cancer screening and prevention. Dr Tucker was previously in private practice in Los Angeles and moved to Singapore permanently in 2006. He is currently Medical Director and Consultant Oncologist at The Pacific Cancer Centre in Singapore.
Previously, Dr. Tucker was the Director of the Prostate & Genitourinary Oncology Program at The Angeles Clinic & Research Institute in Santa Monica, California. Additionally, Dr. Tucker served as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the UCLA School of Medicine and Attending Physician at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
US-Board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, Dr. Tucker earned his Medical degree in 1994 from the University of Missouri-Columbia, School of Medicine; completed his postdoctoral training in Internal Medicine, Oncology, Hematology, and Stem Cell Transplantation at the UCLA Center for Health Sciences, and has served as a Guest Investigator at the Rockefeller University in New York City. In 2006, Dr Tucker was elected by his peers as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Tucker has received numerous honors and awards including a prestigious Merit Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology, a Commendation from the US National Institutes of Health, the UCLA ‘STAR’ Program Award, a Pew Foundation Fellowship, and the University of Missouri Medical Scholarship. Dr. Tucker is also a member of the Singapore Urological Association and on the Executive Committee of the Singapore Society of Oncology.
Since moving to Singapore Dr. Tucker has become involved in medical tourism and global medical travel. He was elected as the first president of the International Medical Travel Association and lectures frequently on patient safety and medical tourism. After training and practicing in the US for 13 years, Dr. Tucker knows first-hand the challenges of delivering healthcare in the US system. Now as an expatriate practicing abroad he has a broader sense of how healthcare can operate differently and what challenges are ahead for US medicine.
